There is limited space on a ship for personal items. Sailors are given a 6x2 coffin locker know as a rack, and a stand up locker for uniforms when they first check on-board the ship. Once situated in a work center they usually get another locker for flight deck here, depending on where they work. The living quarters of 150-200 crew members is called a berthing; triple bunk, six racks to every cubical.  It is pretty tight during the day with crew members moving around.  Most of the ship is on a day and night crew schedule, so usually only half the berthing is in, while the other half is working then vice versa.
